Description

The picture was already taken last year and processed by me. Unfortunately, I forgot to publish it. Therefore, I'm still catching up now

LDN 1082 is an extended, elongated dark cloud in the constellation Cepheus. It is also known as Barnard 150. The interstellar cloud is so dense that the light of the stars behind it and all other background emissions are completely absorbed. An active star formation takes place almost invisibly inside the nebula. Because of its striking appearance, LDN 1082 is also known as the Seahorse Nebula.

Because the cloud is only illuminated from behind by starlight, it is an immense challenge for astrophotographers to process the dark dust on a dark background.
